In this journal, readers will discover an excellent tool for understanding one of America 's less conspicuous and truly silent sub-cultures: the deaf community. From scientific, to sociological, to individual stories within the deaf community, readers will read highly scholarly articles on a broad range of topics. As I. King Jordan, President of Gallaudet University says, "It is the only journal that focuses exclusively on the study of sign language and the people who use it."  Examples of some articles include: "Deaf Parents' Perspectives on Deaf Education," "American Sign Language Teacher Preparation Programs in the United States ," and "Orange Eyes: Bimodal Bilingualism in Hearing Adults form Deaf Families."  As can be seen in the title of especially the final article, this journal leans towards the intellectual and scientific side of understanding the deaf culture. -By Laura Brandt.
