The scholarly, peer-reviewed journal, Bilingual Review, concentrates on exploring Hispanic linguistic and literary issues. The term Hispanic refers to people from the Caribbean, (Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Cuba), South America, Central America and Mexico. Bilingual Review emphasizes the experiences and issues of people that immigrate to the United States from the mentioned countries, and people born in the United States but whose parents or other family members grew up in the mentioned countries. The majority of the articles within the journal, in some way, explore the union, assimilation, clash or rejection of the Hispanic culture and pop-culture that is found within the United States. Other articles within the journal concentrate on linguistic research of bilingualism and educational implications of such research, literary reviews and analysis of original Hispanic literary works, and original Hispanic poems and short stories in Spanish and English.
