Christine D. Popok, CPA, MA is a business owner and CSUCI full-time lecturer with over fifteen years experience in accounting, internal and external reporting, budgeting, analysis, contract management, taxation, and marketing for both publicly and privately held companies. While teaching full-time at CSUCI since its inception in 2002, she earned a Master of Arts degree in Rhetoric and Composition. In addition to teaching business courses, she teaches Composition at CSUCI with a focus on Service Learning and Civic Engagement. In addition to her academic lectures, she presents continuing education courses to fellow CPAs and attorneys through the Center for Professional Education, Inc. and owns Christine Popok Accountancy. "Coach Christine," as she prefers her students call her, has been the Faculty Advisor for CSUCI's Rotaract Club since 2003. "Service above Self" is the motto of Rotary International, and she is an honorary member of the Camarillo Noontime Rotary Club.

She began her professional career as an auditor with Deloitte and Touche, LLP. Since then, she was the Accounting Manager of Ventura County National Bancorp where she supervised all financial reporting to the SEC, FDIC, FTB, Federal Reserve, and Board of Directors. At VCNB, she also coordinated financial and regulatory audits, drafted public Annual Reports, and provided all financial data for an S-2 filing (Public Rights Offering) with the SEC. When VCNB was sold, she became the Business Manager and Corporate Secretary for Walter Dorwin Teague Associates, Inc. where she developed an Activity Based Costing profit center model which was approved by the Defense Contract Audit Agency and compliant with Federal Acquisition Regulations. At TEAGUE, she was integrally involved in the design and maintenance of an Intranet project management reporting system to Ventura County Naval Base customers on-line. At both VCNB and TEAGUE, she managed information systems software conversions.

Presently, she is focusing her career on further development of Service Learning & Civic Engagement pedagogy in both English and Business courses. Serving as the Faculty Advisor for CSUCIs Rotaract Club, while teaching full-time, running a small CPA practice, raising two children, keeping her marriage fresh, maintaining a sense of humor and training for marathons gives her perspective on one of the topics she provides to the community as a volunteer for the Faculty Speakers Bureau: Work-Life Balance.
