Emphases

The English program at CSUCI offers students the opportunity to do additional, optional coursework for credit in one of three areas within the discipline, Creative Writing , Multicultural Literature , or English Education . Each emphasis includes additional coursework that provides depth and focus in a particular area. The completion of an emphasis is indicated on students' transcripts at CSUCI. Passing the English Education coursework additionally qualifies the student as passing the equivalent of the English subject matter exam (California Standards Examination for Teachers).

Students who are interested in pursuing an emphasis are strongly encouraged to contact the advisor for that emphasis, or the chair of the program for advising help. Students in English Education are required to see an advisor at least once per academic year.
